What is the best way to drive to Protaras?
There are several ways to get to protaras. Starting from Larnaca Airport (LCA) or Paphos Airport (PFO), you can choose to get a taxi, public bus, airport shuttle or rent a car.
Taking a public bus is the cheapest but also the longest way to get to Protaras. There is no direct bus from Larnaca airport to Protaras, so you will have to make a stop in Paralimni City and then take a second bus to Protaras.
The
bus lines 418 or 429 will take you from the airport to Larnaca city center
for 22 minutes ride(1€). Then you will have to take the Intercity bus which takes you to
Paralimni City for 1 hour (4€). Finnaly from Paralimni city center, the bus lines operated by OSEA company: 101,
711, 706 or 708
will take you to Protaras for 15min (1€).
If you are traveling with a lot of luggages, with children or with a group of friends and do not want to take public transport, the best choice is to take a taxi. The car will take you from the airport to your accomodation in 55 minutes. The cost vary from 55€ to 80€ for a bigger car(van or minibus).
There are many car rental at Larnaca airport. Prices start at 18€ per day for a small car. The journey from Larnaca Airport to Protaras is very easy via the highway A3. From the airport exit, take A3 direction Ayia Napa. This highway ends between Ayia Napa and Paralimni. From there you should take the E306 to Protaras. Click here to see in Google Map
Airport shuttle is the seconc cheapest way to travel from Larnaca to Protaras. The journey last 60min for about 10€ per person.
Protaras is located in the Famagusta area of Cyprus (East Coast). It had a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and wetter winters. July is the hottest month of the year and December the wettest. Winter is the quietest season in Protaras, but it never gets truly cold. Throughout December and January, you can expect daily high temperatures (+15°C/+20°C), and overnight lows which drop to around +5°C at their lowest point.
